En un barrio de Asunción gente viene, gente va
ya está llamando el tambor, la galopa va a empezar...
3 de Febrero llegó, el patrón señor San Blas
ameniza la función la “Banda de Trinidad”.

Debajo de la enramada ya está formada la rueda
y salen las galoperas la “galopa” a bailar,
luciendo el kîguá verá (1), zarcillo de tres pendientes,
anillos siete ramales y el rosario de coral.

Galopera... baila tu danza hechicera.
Galopera... mueve tus plantas desnudas
cimbreando la cintura en tu promesa de amor.

La morena galopera de estirpe indolatina
luce dos trenzas floridas y viste tîpoy seguá (2).
Sobre su cabeza erguida lleva en cántaro nativo
agua para el peregrino la hermosa mitacuñá (3).

Y así sigue la función al compás de la galopa
suenan alegres las notas estridentes del pistón,
mientas se oye el zumbido del bombo y los platillos
va quejándose el trombón y redoblando el tambor.

Galopera... sigue tu danza hechicera.
